Recycling packaging materials of office automation equipment In the household appliances industry, a large amount of expanded polystyrene is used for packaging household appliances and office automation equipment. This used expanded polystyrene is returned from households to retail shops. It is then collected by appliance manufacturers and resource recycling agents to be recycled. Expanded polystyrene used as packaging material for household appliances is collected in the following way:  Memorandum with consumer electronics manufacturers Japan Expanded Polystyrene Recycling Association (JEPSRA) has concluded a memorandum with seven consumer electronics manufacturers (Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd., Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd., Sanyo Denki Co., Ltd., Sony Corporation, Hitachi, Ltd., Toshiba Corporation, and Mitsubishi Electric Corporation) in relation to cooperation for recycling expanded polystyrene. This memorandum has since expanded to include other manufacturers. |
